Additional Health Insurance Carrier Standards for Physician Specialists Introduced

Senate Bill 3416, introduced in the New Jersey Senate on June 10, 2024, would require additional network adequacy standards for health insurance carries that offer a managed care plan. If enacted, the Department of Banking and Insurance would adopt regulations to provide that covered persons have reasonable and timely access to physician specialists at in-network hospitals and facilities, including anesthesiologists, radiologists, pathologists, emergency medicine physicians, and such other services under the providers’ supervision.
